Report of the Falcons meeting of Saturday, October 12th.
We had a great turn out of both the Falcons and their parents. We had a
group of new Falcon sign up which was exciting. The meeting began at 1000
hours with both Dr. Jutila and Gene Palsson welcoming all to our ground
school. We were waiting for the instructor Jeff Ross to arrive, however
due to some unusual circumstances that was not going to happen. We have
put in place actions that will not let that happen in the future. Dr.
Jutila, who was the Flight Surgeon for the around the world, non-stop
flight of Bert Rutan and Jena Yeager, gave a slide presentation of the
preparation for that flight. At 1100, we began the flights and 21 of the
Falcons got to see their world from a different perspective. Thank you to
our pilots who give of their time. As usual, a fine meal of lasagna was
prepared by a parent volunteer. The last flight returned at 1300. We
appreciated the effort that all our volunteers do to make this program a
success.
Our next Falcon's meeting will be held at Rohnerville Airport on November
9th. We will review the lesson on the compass and if time permits, will
begin the chapter on aircraft maintenance.
